The diversity of locations Minnesota provides is astonishing. I grew up in Southwest Minnesota with corn and soybean fields as far as the eye could see. Now I live in the Brainerd Lakes Area where no roads are straight because they are all going around a lake. John and April’s wedding took place at the La Rue Mine Pit in the Iron Range of Northeast Minnesota just outside a little town called Nashwauk. Emerald green water, kayakers, a random camper owned by a guy that lived there before it was restored who I think is avoiding taxes, red dirt roads and lots of trees are what I walked into as I explored the area where John and April’s wedding took place. I absolutely love shooting in new locations!
The wedding was beautiful and I think that the entire town was part of the celebration. John and April’s congratulations were on most of the business signs around town; it was a wonderful sense of community and family.
Lately I’ve been photographing a lot of other photographers and April was one of them as owner of Apple Tree Photography in Nashwauk. I always get a touch nervous before shooting every single wedding I photography, but when it is another photographer, I get extra nervous!
April and John, it was a pleasure working with you.
