Kaleb and Vanessa’s wedding was post-poned from last fall to this June because their church, Holy Redeemer Catholic, was being remodeled. Holy Redeemer was my parish as I grew up as well. The church has always been a beautiful church in my memory of it, but, was at one time much more beautiful before they painted the entire inside beige. I arrived in Marshall the afternoon before Vanessa and Kaleb’s wedding and went to check out the remodeled church to see where I would be working. When I first saw the inside of the remodeled church it was breathtaking, really remarkable and beautiful. You can look through the images below to see the beautifully remodeled church, it is amazing, especially when there’s a beautiful wedding taking place inside!
Vanessa’s family had seen my work from Vanessa’s cousin’s wedding that I photographed in 2009. I was quite excited for Vanessa’s wedding because I knew that the church would be remodeled and because I remembered their wonderful family from her cousin’s wedding. Their wedding did not disappoint. I’ve already talked about the church, but the friends and family are what really made the day beautiful. A friend of mine always talks about how friendship and love are like a rope that gets stronger over time as our memory builds. Love starts like a string, so easy to break, then as our memory is built the string turns into twine, then rope, then a cable, then a chain, constantly getting stronger as memory is built. The love in Vanessa’s family is like one of those chains you see on a ocean freight liner where each link is 300lbs. Are they perfect? No, nobody is perfect, but they can risk in life, risk the pursuit of finding happiness because they know their family’s love is like this heavy chain that is so strong that even if they fail, this chain will hold them. Like I said, they have a very beautiful family.
Kaleb and Vanessa, God bless and thank you dearly for having me.
