Rain, Romance & Pop-Tart Socks: Emily & Matthew’s Wedding at Madden’s on Gull Lake

May 29, 2025

Okay, real talk: if Mother Nature was a wedding crasher, she showed up uninvited and unhinged for Emily and Matthew’s big day. The plan? A dreamy outdoor ceremony on the shores of Gull Lake. The reality? Rain that consistently threatened wedding hairdos and neatly folded napkins. Wind that threatened to yeet chairs into the lake. But here’s the twist—this wedding still slapped. Hard. Because Madden’s on Gull Lake doesn’t play around when it comes to plan B.

Madden’s: The Ultimate Rain Plan MVP

One minute we were imagining a lakeside ceremony with birds chirping and sunlight kissing foreheads. The next? We’re inside a gorgeous indoor space at Madden’s that felt just as magical. Seriously, if you’re set on an outdoor vibe but don’t wanna roll the dice on Minnesota weather (aka nature’s wildcard), Madden’s is the venue to beat. They’ve got backup plans that don’t feel like backups—more like “Oh wow, this is actually stunning and somehow better?”

Suit Game Strong, Sentiment Stronger

Let’s talk Matthew. This man pulled up in a custom-made suit from Bill’s Toggery, looking like the main character he absolutely was. Tailored to perfection. Style: immaculate. But plot twist—check the socks. Pop-Tarts. Yes. The breakfast snack of champions, now in sock form, peeking out under bespoke pants. Iconic.

Meanwhile, Emily had her own emotional power move. Her dad wore a tie she gave him when she was 13. Thirteen! And he kept it all these years just waiting for this moment? Cue the collective sobbing. He topped it off with a tie clip engraved with “Father of the Bride,” because apparently this family came to end us emotionally in the best way possible.

Chainsaws and Chosen People

Let’s talk unity ceremony. No candles. No sand. No blending of wine. Nah, Emily and Matthew went full-on lumberjack love. They sawed. A. Log. Together. With a two-man saw. It was primal. It was teamwork. It was a metaphor wrapped in bark and badassery. If your relationship can survive log-sawing in formalwear, you’re golden.

And can we take a second for Emily’s bridal party lineup? Leading the charge: her Man of Honor. Not only did he serve style and support, but he also proved that gender roles are sooo last season. We love to see it.

In Summary: Chaos, Charm, and a Whole Lotta Love

Emily and Matthew’s wedding was a masterclass in rolling with the punches and still throwing a party for the ages. Weather went rogue, but they didn’t flinch. With killer style, heartfelt details, and a touch of outdoorsy absurdity (log ceremony, I’m looking at you), this day was unforgettable.

Rain couldn’t ruin it. Wind couldn’t stop it. Pop-Tart socks, sentimental ties, and a love strong enough to wield a saw together? That’s the stuff of legend.

Want a wedding that still looks like a movie when the weather says “not today”? Let’s chat. I know the light, I know the vibe, and I definitely know how to make a windstorm look cinematic.
