A Lakeside Vow, Twice Over: Jenna & Joe on Leech Lake

Frequently Asked Questions

Chase on the Lake Resort & Spa sits in downtown Walker, Minnesota, on the shores of Walker Bay on Leech Lake — one of Minnesota's largest lakes at over 110,000 acres. It's in Cass County, on the northern edge of the greater Brainerd Lakes region, about 80 miles north of Brainerd. Jenna and Joe's whole wedding day lived on that water: the ceremony on the lawn above the bay, portraits along the lakeshore, and last light on the marina dock.

The Walker Bay Ballroom accommodates roughly 40 to 210 guests, with a lake view over Walker Bay, and the resort's sales team can customize the layout for both intimate and larger receptions. Jenna and Joe held their reception there — first dance, parent dances, and toasts on the ballroom floor — after an outdoor ceremony down by the lake.

Yes — Chase on the Lake is a full hotel and resort, so most of a wedding party can stay on-site. Wedding groups receive preferred overnight rates, and the resort's sales team coordinates lodging blocks. Rooms range from standard Two Queen rooms to King One Bedroom suites with separate living spaces, kitchens, and Leech Lake views. Jenna's morning started right there in a lakeview suite, robes and mimosas and the dress hanging in the window.

Yes. The resort offers an outdoor ceremony on the lakeside lawn overlooking Walker Bay on Leech Lake, as well as indoor use of the Walker Bay Ballroom if weather turns. Jenna and Joe were married outside on the lawn above the water, under a birch arch dressed in summer wildflowers, with their guests gathered close and the whole horizon of Leech Lake behind them.

Walker Bay faces roughly west and northwest, so the evening light comes straight off Leech Lake — and in July, sunset on the bay runs late, close to 9:00 PM. The marina dock at dusk is the strongest portrait spot on the property; it's where Jenna and Joe's silhouette kiss happened, the sky going teal and orange over open water. It's worth building a short portrait window into the last hour of daylight. Overcast skies aren't a problem either: soft, even light read every face cleanly through their lakeside ceremony earlier in the day.

Walker sits right on Leech Lake and offers fishing, boating, and lake recreation, with local shops and restaurants a short walk from the resort in downtown Walker. The Chase on the Lake property itself includes the Copper Door Spa for the morning-of, a heated indoor pool, and The 502 Restaurant & Bar on the water — so a wedding weekend can spend most of its time on-site, which is exactly how Jenna and Joe's played out.
