Pine Peaks Event Center Wedding Photographer

You picked Pine Peaks because you wanted something that felt nothing like a resort — wildflower gardens, pine groves, eighty private acres that belong to you for the day. Documentary and editorial photography that keeps the feeling.

Start the Conversation

You chose Pine Peaks Event Center because it felt like nothing else — wildflower gardens, pine groves, eighty private acres. Your photographs should carry that same feeling.

Pine Peaks Event Center is eighty acres of private Minnesota land — wildflower gardens, perennial beds, pine groves, a cornfield, ponds, streams, open grass pasture, and ceremony arbors that put you in the middle of all of it. It's a completely different context from every other major venue in the Brainerd Lakes area — and it photographs that way.

You've made a specific choice. The question is whether your photographer understands that choice — whether they can work in natural outdoor light across a private estate rather than in a ballroom or on a dock. Just living it.

Your Only Job Is to Be There — Fully, Completely — With the People You Love Most. I'll Handle the Rest.

I'm Tim Larsen — a documentary and editorial wedding photographer based in the Brainerd Lakes area, with 19 years and 350+ weddings behind me. Pine Peaks is one of the venues I actively look forward to photographing, because natural light on a private estate gives me tools that don't exist at resort venues. It's always the people.

I know what the garden arbors look like at golden hour when the field behind them turns amber. I know that the Fireside Tavern's fireplace light is warm and layered. I know how to work the Great Hall when the light outside is too harsh. During editorial portraits in the gardens, I give clear, simple direction so you're never wondering. Most couples tell me it was their favorite part of the day — and they went in dreading it.

The Light at Pine Peaks Is the Thing Nobody Warns You About

Pine Peaks is an outdoor estate, which means the light is your primary asset all day long. The garden arbors face different directions, so the time of day determines which ceremony site gets the best light.

In summer, golden hour runs from about 7:30 PM onward, and the combination of wildflowers, warm field light, and open Minnesota sky is extraordinary. The Fireside Tavern's fireplace light is the best indoor candid light on the property — warm, layered, genuinely beautiful. It's the window I build every Pine Peaks timeline around.

"When the wildflower gardens catch golden hour light and the field behind them turns amber — that's the window. That's what the whole day is built around."

Frequently Asked Questions

Pine Peaks peak summer weekends book 12–18 months out, and my availability tends to follow the venue. If your date is six months or less away, I'd still reach out. Openings exist, especially for Friday and Sunday weddings.

No — Pine Peaks is a private 80-acre estate near Crosslake, MN. It's not on a lake. The character is completely different from any resort venue in the Brainerd Lakes area: wildflower gardens, pine groves, a cornfield, ponds, streams, and open pasture. That's what makes it photograph so distinctively.

Documentary means I'm watching — following what's happening, staying out of the way. Editorial means I'm directing — giving clear, minimal prompts to create a specific frame. The two work together: documentary coverage captures the day as it happened; editorial portraits give you the images you'll put on the wall — and moments worth protecting. At Pine Peaks, both matter because the estate gives you genuinely beautiful frames worth building toward.

Most people are — and it's never been a problem. The ladies' and gentlemen's portrait sessions before the first look are intentional — your people are there, the mood is loose, and by the time it's just the two of you, the camera has already faded into the background. During portraits I give clear, simple direction — where to stand, where to look, what to do with your hands — so you're never standing there wondering. Most couples tell me the garden session was their favorite part of the day.

No. Pine Peaks Event Center is in my home territory — I photograph throughout the Brainerd Lakes area regularly. No travel fees, no surprises.
