Pine Peaks Event Center is eighty acres of private Minnesota land — wildflower gardens, perennial beds, pine groves, a cornfield, ponds, streams, open grass pasture, and ceremony arbors that put you in the middle of all of it. It's a completely different context from every other major venue in the Brainerd Lakes area — and it photographs that way.

I'm Tim Larsen — a documentary and editorial wedding photographer based in the Brainerd Lakes area, with 19 years and 350+ weddings behind me. Pine Peaks is one of the venues I actively look forward to photographing, because natural light on a private estate gives me tools that don't exist at resort venues. It's always the people.

I know what the garden arbors look like at golden hour when the field behind them turns amber. I know that the Fireside Tavern's fireplace light is warm and layered. I know how to work the Great Hall when the light outside is too harsh. During editorial portraits in the gardens, I give clear, simple direction so you're never wondering. Pine Peaks is an outdoor estate, which means the light is your primary asset all day long. The garden arbors face different directions, so the time of day determines which ceremony site gets the best light.

In summer, golden hour runs from about 7:30 PM onward, and the combination of wildflowers, warm field light, and open Minnesota sky is extraordinary. The Fireside Tavern's fireplace light is the best indoor candid light on the property — warm, layered, genuinely beautiful. It's the window I build every Pine Peaks timeline around.
